Kings of Israel is a cooperative game with a Judeo-Christian theme. It is a threat management mechanic (such as Pandemic, Flash Point, Forbidden Desert), and also uses cards for blessings, punishments, resources, and locations. The players are a team of prophets during the reigns of the ancient kings of Israel (the Northern kingdom). Their goal is to build altars to the Lord while at the same working to contain the spread of sin and idolatry throughout the kingdom. Not an easy task, but a worthy effort! If the prophets are able to build enough altars, they win. However, there are three ways to lose: run out of time (king timeline), sin overtakes the kingdom, or idolatry spreads too much.
The game can be played at different levels of difficulty. My favorite is to play a combination of easy and expert levels, especially with new players: share card info with all (easy), receive a blessing after making a sacrifice at an altar (easy), and include the false prophet (expert).
